Activating the xRED3000

The xRED3000 INS by default will be shipped unactivated. This article details the process to activate the xRED3000 so that it runs normally as well as how to enable all purchased feature codes.

When first viewing the xRED3000 in NAVdisplay, it will show firmware expired as seen in the image below. This is as a result of the disabled run code.

You can confirm if the run code is disabled in NAVdisplay via:
Utilities -> Device status -> feature codes

The “Unit is allowed to run” Feature code is the run code. The feature code table will show if this is enabled or disabled.

Alternatively you can view the feature code table in the NAVconfig. This is done by:

• Open NAVconfig and connect to the device
• Select the information 'i' icon in the lower left-hand corner of the window

This will automatically open the feature code table as shown below where you can check the status of the run code.

Applying the feature code file received from OXTS using NAVdisplay:

1. Download the feature code file received from OXTS and place it a suitable location on your PC. Please note this feature code will be sent from the email address ecsw@oxts.com, "ECSW - OXTS Support FW", with the subject line "Export controlled email ¦ Non-export controlled ¦ " 
2. Power up the unit and connect to it via Ethernet.
3. Open NAVdisplay
4. Go to Utilities -> Quick config
5. In the Quick Config window, click the Advanced option on the left-hand side.
6. Click the "…" button next to the "Enter directory" input box.

7. Locate the folder where the feature code file is saved.
   

    

8. Click the "Select File" drop-down menu and select the feature code file.
9. Click "Apply".
10. Reset the unit by typing "!reset" in the "Enter Command" input box. Please make sure to use this soft reset instead of a full power cycle to ensure the feature code is applied correctly
11. Once the unit has reset, open Utilities > Device status > feature codes. This should now reflect that the Run code has been enabled.
12. If this has failed to update on the unit, please contact support@oxts.com.

Applying feature codes using NAVconfig

1. Download the feature code file received from us and place it a suitable location on your PC. Please note this feature code will be sent from the email address ecsw@oxts.com, "ECSW - OXTS Support FW", with the subject line "Export controlled email ¦ Non-export controlled ¦ " 
2. Power up the unit and connect to it via Ethernet.
3. Open NAVconfig.
4. Select ‘New configuration’ or 'Modify configuration', 'Read settings from a device' and select your device from the dropdown menu. 
5. Once the configuration has been loaded on NAVconfig from the device, select the information 'i' icon in the bottom lefthand corner.
   
6. Open the 'Unlock feature codes' dropdown on the bottom of the page.
7. Using the 'Feature code file' input box, search for the directory where the feature code file is stored.
   
8. Once the directory is selected, click the 'Activate' button.
9. Once the file has been sent the feature code table should update within the next 15 seconds to reflect that the Run code is now enabled.
10. Reset the device via NAVdisplay using the “!reset” command or commit the configuration in NAVconfig on the “Write configuration” page.
