1. Introduction
The GLONASS authorisation code for products using Topcon GNSS receivers should be updated using Ethernet.
2. Check Files
Support should have issued a mobile.to1 and/or mobile.to2 file, depending on if you are upgrading your primary or secondary GNSS card.
Alongside this there should be a mobile.tpc1 and/or mobile.tpc2 file, again depending on which card is to be upgraded.
You may also have been issued a feature code set, usually to enable GLONASS heading solution, features_serialnumber_YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.txt.
3. Setup
Power the unit and connect both antennas in an environment where satellites will be visible (outside).
The RJ45 Ethernet connector on the RT can be plugged in to a network hub. To connect it directly
to a laptop a crossover must be used. The RT is supplied with a suitable cable for connection to a
laptop computer.
If the upgrade is for the secondary GNSS card ensure you have enabled the secondary antenna in your configuration using NAVconfig (download or update here).
Open NAVdisplay, connect to your unit's IP address and load in the Performance template.
Take note of the primary and secondary number of satellites tracked.
4. Opening the File System
Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) can be used to connect to the your OxTS product.
Open Windows Explorer. In the address box type: ftp://your.IP where your.IP the IP address of your product.
Explorer will show all the raw data files and the current configuration files that are stored on the unit.
5. Applying the Upgrade
Copy the mobile.to1/ mobile.to2 file onto the units file system.
Wait 20 seconds for the transfer to complete.
Turn the unit off and on again.
Copy the mobile.tpc1/ mobile.tpc2 file onto the units file system.
Wait 20 seconds for the transfer to complete.
Turn the unit off and on again.
In NAVdisplay you should see an increase in the number of satellites tracked on the GNSS card you just upgraded (primary or secondary).
Still in NAVdisplay go to Utilities > Quick Config.
Select your unit from the drop down.
Select the Advanced commands page from the right hand menu.
In the enter directory field put the path of the folder where your features_serialnumber_YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.txt file is located.
Then select the file from the drop down list and click apply.
Once this process completes your upgrade is completed.
